What seemed like a potentially decent stretch of time until the time I went back to work turned into a TOTAL blur and before I knew it, I was back at work, pumping (in my car, by the way) a depleting supply of breast milk as my 2 month old was cared for by a daycare.

"I never got my sick leave balance out from below zero, and when I left that job I had to pay back my employer for all my negative sick leave hours. Nobody should have to face this kind of challenge when he gets sick. My job counted on me, but I couldn't count on my job."

"In 2008, my mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 63.  Fortunately, my dad and I were able to keep her in our family home in Baltimore until her death in July 2014.  I live in DC and would have liked to have been able to take paid time off from work to help out with my mom."
